A Tuscan daydream...

A Tuscan daydream...

This morning as I embarked upon the familiar yet mundane 25-mile journey to the office I allowed my mind to wander to the Tuscan countryside. Maybe it was the glorious 7:00am sunshine, perhaps it was the tuneful bird song or most likely it was the simple fact that Tuscany is a place I often re-visit in my thoughts...

My husband and I honeymooned in Italy earlier this year. From the chaos of Rome to the tranquility of the Tuscan hilltop towns; every inch of our travels was breathtaking.

With the help of Rick Steves this morning I was transported back to a corner of the earth I simply cannot get enough of for a short yet blissfully sweet 30 minutes.

There is so much more to share with you on our Italian adventure but for today I leave you with this gorgeous image of the Val d'Orcia. This picture takes me back to the most amazing place I have ever stayed.

I can almost feel the fresh spring breeze blowing through the valley. I can smell the wood-burning fire that remedied the evening chill at dusk. I can hear the peace and quiet; the joyful song of birds and the gentle humming of bees. And if I really close my eyes and go back to this place, I can taste the incredible local delicacies.

And now in the harsh fluorescent-lit office with the dreaded ring of the telephone, in Tuscany is where I shall stay for the remainder of my day thanks to my date with Rick Steves and a plethora of fabulous memories...
